LOCAL MUNICIPALITY BUILDING UP THE SPORTS COMMITTEE

THE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY HAS BEEN BUILDING UP THE SPORTS COMMITTEE AND ADDING A FOCUS ON JUDO AND TAEKWONDO. Last month, a Garabito Judo Tournament was held involving 10 teams in the country; and this month, the focus was on Taekwondo. Locals, Steven Alvarado and Reinier Arce represented the Central Pacific region in a Taekwondo event in Honduras last month. They won first place in the categories of youth and adult Catrachos Cup and were selected to represent Costa Rica in El Salvador this weel. Max Jorge Manzanares, the coach from the Sports Committee of Garabito said that they will continue to train for the classification of Alajuela 2010 National Games. "We are very proud of the work of the Sports Committee and the contribution to the growth of athletes in Garabito," said Marvin Elizondo, the Mayor of Garabito. The Sports Committee is always looking for sports equipment to help build up the department.
